Context
Kristian is an advertising agency offering a full service in media and creativity: strategic media planning and creative concepts (ideamaking), digital marketing, websites, PPC, social media, and event and conference production. It also works in graphic design, DTP, video, photography and audio.
My role
Kristian was my first job in the field: a coder with an overlap into web graphics.
In the digital department I prepared web graphics, such as banners, product photo masking and photo and image edits for websites. As the projects grew, I learned the basics of HTML and CSS and used Bootstrap to adjust templates and build new websites from the graphic department's designs.
The field caught my interest so much that, while working there, I started studying Web Development at the IT STEP Computer Academy to improve my qualifications. There I learned everything from the basics up to JavaScript, PHP and MySQL.
Later we started building and managing websites in October CMS, an open-source content management system built on Laravel. My favourite part was moving pages into it with the Twig templating language and setting them up so users could easily edit the content themselves.
It was a valuable experience with great colleagues who taught me a lot, and I still like to stop by for a coffee.
